1. First, contact the Foundation

for the availability of scholarship grants (see “Contact Information”). You will be sent the appropriate forms if eligible and if funds are available at the discretion of the Trustee. See “Contact Information” for the information you need to reach the Trustee before you begin the application process. The college or university in which the student is enrolled must be under the control and auspices of the applicable governing agency of the state, recognized by the United States Department of Education, and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) or other public accrediting agency of public colleges and universities.

b. Must prove enrollment in a public college or university (in Alabama accredited by SACS).

d. Must provide an official copy of the prior semester’s grades (if applicable) in a public college or university or a private university with a national reputable interdisciplinary record of service.

The scholarship grant amounts may vary from one semester to the next or from one student to the next depending on the decision of the Board of Directors.

3. Application Form

A copy of the application may be sent to you after you contact the Trustee pertaining to eligibility.

4. Questionnaire Form

A questionnaire form may be sent to you with an application form after determining your eligibility.

5. Proof of Current Enrollment

Each applicant must provide proof of current enrollment in a public college or university. This documentation should be provided with the application, the questionnaire, and any other requirement.

6. Documentation of Grades

If a student has previously attended a public college or university, a copy of his or her previous semester’s grades must be provided with the application and other required documents. This requirement is necessary each semester in which the student is seeking a scholarship.

7. Photo & Approval Form

A semi-formal photograph is requested from each applicant who is approved by the Board for a scholarship grant. This photograph may appear in the Foundation’s publications, including this website. An approval form for using the photograph and the student’s appropriate information is required and will be sent along with the application.

Payment of Grants

Payment of the grants may be made directly to the college or university or directly to the student depending on the decision of the Trustee.

Amounts Available for Grants

In every academic year the amount of money available for grants is determined by the preceding calendar year’s earned interest. Ninety percent (90%) of the interest income will then be considered for scholarship grants. The other ten percent (10%) of the interest income is retained in the principal to ensure that the Foundation has funds in the succeeding academic years for scholarships. The Board of Directors may make all or part of the 90% interest income available for grants or may decline to make any grant in any academic semester or year depending on applicants or lack thereof.

Disciplines

During those semesters, when there are dual or multiple applicants the Board of Directors and/or Trustee may choose the student(s) whose major is deemed the most critical or beneficial to society. Priority will be given to those students majoring in disciplines that offer critical needs to society as determined solely by the President or Trustee.
